Above Ground Pools. What One is Right for You?
When it comes to above ground, or on-ground swimming pools, there are many sizes and shapes to choose from. In most cases, it is easy to find the right one for your yard.
Starting the process is easy.
Know your local zoning regulations. Some zoning districts require a pool or attached deck remain a certain distance from property lines, buildings, or utilities. Make sure you look up. No overhead lines!
If your yard has a slope, it might affect what size pool you want. The larger the pool, the deeper it will go into a hillside. This could necessitate the need for a retaining wall.
Size matters. The most popular size pool in the Eastgate Pools & Spas service area is a 24-foot round. However, there are pools as small as 15-foot in diameter and as large as 33-foot in diameter.
Do a preliminary layout. All you need is a wind-up tape measure, a screwdriver, and a can of spray paint. Locate where you want the pool’s center. Your tape measure should have an open-ended hole at the tape’s beginning. Insert the screwdriver through the hole and stake the middle pool location. Pull the tape out to a distance that is half the diameter of the size you are considering. For example, for a 24-foot pool, use a measurement of 12-feet. Walk a circle with the tethered tape measure, painting the 12’ circular mark. The circle represents the pool wall and will give you an idea of how it will fit in your yard.
Make sure you have access to get excavation equipment into your yard. Most professional installers use a Bobcat or similar-style digger. Our installers require a minimum of seven feet of unobstructed, level access on your property.
Above ground installers do not remove dirt, nor will they usually move it very far. Know where you want it piled.
Bring us pictures of your yard and access areas. The more information we have, the better we can help you in your decision-making.
Okay—you’ve decided on a 24-foot round above ground swimming pool.
That’s great! Now stop at Eastgate Pools & Spas and pick out your pool. We have several models available. All are quality pools, but some are a little taller than others and frame sizes vary. Naturally, these factors affect the price. Also, you’ll have the pool for many years, so choose a model that complements your backyard setting and home design.
“I want an above ground pool, but my yard has a pretty good slope to it.”
Our above ground pools can go in almost any yard if we have access and a place to put the dirt. Traditional above ground pools may require a retaining wall though if the yard has a significant slope. If this is your situation, you should consider our hybrid Sensation Pools. They’re unique, because they can go on top of the ground, all the way in ground, or anywhere in between. The wall panels are super thick, and structurally eliminate the need for a retaining wall.
Your next step in getting an above ground pool…
…should be visiting our store. Eastgate Pools & Spas has a beautiful pool lot with current models on display. We would love the opportunity to show them to you and help you pick one out. We suggest you stop in soon. Last year, we sold out, and pre-season sales for the upcoming swim season are strong, too. The longer you wait to get a pool, the more you risk watching your neighbors swim in their pool while you wait for yours to get built.
