Christmas Time
It’s Ho Ho Ho Time!
Every year it is decreed that Thanksgiving is to be observed on the fourth Thursday of November. As such, this year marked the latest possible date it could officially be held…November 28th. There is one BIG side effect: This is the shortest traditional Christmas shopping you can have. For many, this escalates the what-do-I-get (pick your shopping list entries)? In other words, panic time becomes a little more compressed. There is less time to fret and stew over what to get everybody.

And even if it does, would the ‘lucky’ recipient want to be seen in public wearing it? Let me offer some better ideas.
A family hot tub.
Sure, they can be a little pricey, but if you want to aim high for the world’s greatest gift, go big! Talk about memorable. And it’s something the family will have and enjoy for years, even decades to come. Plus, if you shot your budget for the season, it’s a great way to unwind and relax. Over and over and over…
If someone on your list already has a tub, Eastgate Pools has a bunch of cool hot tub accessories. They will appreciate synthetic entry steps that are virtually maintenance free. How about a gift-box of assorted hot tub scents or a towel tree to help keep robes and towels dry. Or a cover lifter that keeps the cover off the ground and easy to handle when removing and replacing.

A new set of outdoor furniture.
As with hot tubs, this is more of an immediate family gift idea. After all, personal tastes are, well…personal. Chaise lounges for around the pool or a new umbrella for the existing set? Bingo!
Lastly, if your next-door neighbors still have their set uncovered and unprotected for winter weather, be kind. Gift them a bottle of furniture cleaner and a cover for their set. They will appreciate it and you’ll feel good giving them a meaningful present. Plus, you won’t have to look at their old nasty set every time you glance their way. Then in the spring, have them come see us about rectifying that.
A World-famous Big Green Egg ceramic smoker grill.
Any serious grilling maven would be thrilled to find a Big Green Egg under the tree this year. Or a nice picture of one. They are heavy and made for heavy-duty grilling. The unique shape of a kamado-style grill keeps moisture and taste in. Flavors are enhanced by the natural lump charcoal used as the fuel. Better still, there is no aftertaste of burnt gas that’s common with food cooked on regular gas grills. I’m a convert because I have one. With my old gas grill, I sometimes overcooked meats. The result was dried-out, shoe-sole steaks and chops that were embarrassing to plate. With my Egg, it’s hard to overcook something, but even if I do, it stays moist, juicy, and tasty.
Perhaps best of all, if you gift a Big Green Egg to the griller in the family, you get a side benefit: You will love juicy food that’s tasty, moist and a joy to eat.
A swimming pool.
With the burst of cold weather we’ve recently experienced, you may not be thinking about swimming. But the hazy, lazy days of summer will return before you know it and planning now means swimming then. If an above-ground pool is in the plans, now is a good time to contract for one. Prices are their best in the off-season and that means now. If you are leaning towards a hybrid Sensation pool or an Award-Winning Legacy in-ground pool, now is go-time. We get backed up on installation dates every year, and 2025 will be no different. These construction projects take time to prepare for and we don’t rush through an installation just to get it done. This is just one of many reasons we are an Aqua 100 Hall of Fame builder. We do the job right.
The little things.
It’s true. Little things matter. If shopping for someone that already has the items listed above, we have what’s needed to make their day special. And in a way, yours too. From robotic cleaners and entry systems for the pool owner to a new cover for the hot tubbers. I’ve mentioned covers and umbrellas for the outdoor furniture crowd, but how about some umbrella lights?
